Texas A&M men’s basketball comes into the round of 32 fresh off a convincing win over Yale and came into the round of 32, looking to overcome a quality Michigan squad for the right to go to Atlanta and play in the Sweet 16.
However, a five-minute and 49-second scoring drought late in the second half was too much to overcome, as the Aggies had their season end at the hands of the Wolverines, 91-79.

A&M led deep into the second half before a four-minute and 21-second scoring drought allowed the Wolverines to take full control. In that same span, the Wolverines made five of their six shots and never relinquished the lead in the 12-point win.
Aggies’ were led by forward Pharrel Payne once again, who followed up his 25-point night on Thursday with a career-high 26-point performance. Wolverines’ guard Roddy Gayle Jr. finished with 26 points, finishing 7-for-14 on the night.
A&M falls short of the Sweet 16 for the second year in a row.

The game has flipped completely on its head thanks to the Aggies’ four-minute and 21-second scoring drought; the Wolverines are in full control with under four minutes to go. Michigan has made five of their six shots in that same span, and now A&M is in a dangerous spot with its season on the line.
