Everton Football Club has had a busy summer transfer season so far in 2024. The Toffees have had several incomings and a few outgoings, including one major sale that helped the club turn a solid profit and provided extra funds to reinvest in the squad.
Amadou Onana is the player under consideration here. The Belgian left Goodison Park for the Midlands and Aston Villa. The Villans paid £50 million for his services, a hefty profit for the Merseysiders, who paid £33 million to sign Onana from Lille in 2022.
Everton also sold Lewis Dobbin to Villa and Ben Godfrey to Italian club Atalanta. In terms of new signings, the Toffees signed a Villa player themselves.
Tim Iroegbunam and Iliman Ndiaye both transferred from Marseille to Goodison Park at the beginning of the transfer window. The most recent addition to Everton’s roster is winger Jesper Lindstrom of Napoli, who is a season-long loanee with a buyout option.
There have been rumors that the Toffees would look to Serie A once more in order to sign a player who could be the ideal partner for their new Danish winger. Midfielder in Serie A that Everton wants The Serie A player in question is Weston McKennie, a midfielder for Juventus and the United States of America. The former Leeds United loanee may leave the Allianz stadium this summer as Thiago Motta, the current manager, seems to be losing interest in him.
The Toffees may offer McKennie a ticket out of Turin this summer, as the Premier League team has reportedly already contacted him about a trade, according to Italian news source Calcio Mercato. Although the story clarifies that ‘there hasn’t been a firm offer’ at this stage from Everton, it does indicate that the ‘latest approach’ originated from Goodison Park.
In fact, McKennie has received offers from other Premier League teams to depart the Old Lady this summer besides Sean Dyche’s team. The American was offered a contract by Aston Villa, but he declined the offer after turning down a pay package estimated to be worth about €5 million (£4 million).
Everton needs to pay Juventus the €20 million (£17 million) that they are requesting for McKennie this summer. According to the report, Juve can’t agree to sell McKennie this summer if there isn’t any other option.
Reasons McKennie might make a wise addition Even though the 25-year-old midfielder is not in Juventus’s plans for 2024–2025, he was a key member of the team under Massimiliano Allegri last season. In his 34 games in Serie A, McKennie recorded an outstanding seven assists.
