Sawyer Reeves, a former infielder for Citadel, has visited campuses in Mississippi, South Carolina, and Kentucky before committing to play for the Bulldogs. Reeves was overjoyed to play in front of tens of thousands of Bulldog fans at Dudy Noble Field. He attributes his decision to attend Mississippi State to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and his faith in God.
State captain Chris Lemonis has ties to the school, having played there and advanced to Omaha. He is also a member of the Citadel baseball hall of fame. Lemonis has gone through something similar and can identify to what Reeves has been through, so he decides to tell him about it.
The narrative of Reeves is one of unwavering resolve. He decided to walk on at The Citadel after high school and is now a member of one of the best collegiate baseball programs in Southeastern Conference history. He can line up anywhere the Mississippi State staff wants him to and can play a variety of infield positions.
When playing baseball, Reeves will give 110% and treat his teammates with the respect he hopes to receive. Following Jesus’ example, he will give his all for his colleagues and do his best.
