BREAKING: The Tennessee Titans Unveil New Statue Outside Nissan Stadium Honoring 3x Pro Bowler Taylor Lewan
In a powerful gesture of gratitude and legacy, the Tennessee Titans have unveiled a brand-new statue outside Nissan Stadium honoring legendary offensive tackle and fan favorite, Taylor Lewan. The bronze monument, standing tall near the main entrance on the east plaza, celebrates not only Lewan’s football excellence but also his larger-than-life personality that helped define a generation of Titans football.
The statue unveiling ceremony took place on a sunny afternoon in Nashville, drawing a large crowd of fans, former teammates, Titans alumni, and team executives. Lewan himself was present, visibly emotional as the drape fell to reveal a larger-than-life likeness of him in full game-day stance—arms flexed, mouth open mid-roar, and hair flowing from beneath his helmet.
A Titan Through and Through
Drafted 11th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft out of Michigan, Taylor Lewan quickly became the bedrock of the Titans’ offensive line. Known for his elite pass protection skills, relentless attitude, and fierce loyalty to his team, Lewan was selected to three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2016 to 2018 and started in 100 games during his career with the franchise.
But beyond the accolades and physical dominance, Lewan brought something rare to the game—charisma. Whether it was his outrageous entrances, his no-holds-barred podcast “Bussin’ With the Boys,” or his public battles to defend his teammates, Lewan became the spiritual heartbeat of the Titans locker room.
Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk spoke at the ceremony, saying:
“Taylor Lewan wasn’t just a football player for this franchise—he was a voice, a warrior, a leader. His passion, energy, and heart will forever be part of what it means to wear the Titans uniform.”
Symbol of an Era
The statue represents not only Lewan’s personal contributions but also the Titans’ gritty identity during his tenure. His career spanned some of the team’s most pivotal moments, including deep playoff runs, the development of star running back Derrick Henry, and the re-emergence of the Titans as a feared force in the AFC.
Lewan was the linchpin in the offensive line that helped Derrick Henry rush for over 2,000 yards in 2020, earning Henry a place in NFL history. Henry, who attended the unveiling, called Lewan “the baddest left tackle I ever ran behind,” and added, “He made everyone around him better—not just on the field, but off it too.”
The statue depicts Lewan mid-play, bracing to protect the quarterback—a pose chosen by Lewan himself to represent his identity as a protector and anchor.
A Fitting Tribute
Fans in attendance held up signs reading “Forever 77” and chanted “Tay-lor! Tay-lor!” as the statue was revealed. The Titans also released a tribute video featuring former teammates, including Marcus Mariota, Ryan Tannehill, and coach Mike Vrabel, all expressing their appreciation for Lewan’s leadership and toughness.
In a brief but heartfelt speech, Lewan said:
“I gave everything I had to this city and this team. To have that recognized with something so permanent… it’s hard to put into words. I didn’t play for stats—I played for my brothers and for Nashville.”
He continued with characteristic humor, adding:
“And if the Titans ever need a 300-pound statue to scare off opposing teams, well—now we’ve got it covered.”
More Than a Football Player
Taylor Lewan’s impact extended far beyond the gridiron. He was active in the community, routinely donating time and resources to Nashville charities and advocating for mental health awareness among athletes. His podcast, co-hosted with former teammate Will Compton, became a national platform for unfiltered, behind-the-scenes perspectives on the NFL.
“Taylor helped put the Titans on the map again,” said Compton. “He was raw, real, and always unapologetically himself. That’s why people loved him.”
Legacy Locked in Bronze
With this statue, Taylor Lewan joins Titans immortality, alongside other franchise greats like Steve McNair and Eddie George. The decision to honor an offensive lineman—often the most underappreciated role in football—speaks volumes about Lewan’s unique imprint on the organization.
Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell declared June 15th as “Taylor Lewan Day,” calling the former Titan “a symbol of grit, loyalty, and unbreakable spirit.”
As fans flock to Nissan Stadium for years to come, they’ll now be greeted by the towering figure of No. 77—forever a Titan, forever a protector, and forever a legend.
Statue. Legacy. Lewan.
