Devastating News: Accidents at Earltown Motocross Park Send Two to Hospital
In a shocking turn of events this past weekend, Earltown Motocross Park became the scene of two serious accidents that left the local racing community reeling. What was supposed to be a thrilling day of high-speed excitement and family fun quickly turned into a nightmare as emergency services were called to the popular Nova Scotia track following two separate but severe crashes that sent riders to the hospital with significant injuries.

According to eyewitnesses, the first accident occurred during a mid-morning heat when a young rider lost control after launching off a jump and failed to land properly. The 17-year-old male, whose name has not been released, suffered what officials are calling “serious but non-life-threatening injuries.” Paramedics responded swiftly, immobilizing the teen and airlifting him to a nearby hospital for trauma care. Spectators, many of them family members and fellow riders, watched in stunned silence as emergency personnel performed on-site first aid.
Just hours later, tragedy nearly struck again when a more experienced rider, participating in the adult division, collided with another competitor during a tight turn. The impact threw both riders from their bikes, but it was the 32-year-old from Truro who bore the brunt of the collision. He reportedly sustained injuries to his back and shoulder and was transported by ambulance to Colchester East Hants Health Centre. While the second rider was treated on site for minor scrapes and released, concern remains high for the man still hospitalized.
Officials at the Earltown track suspended further races for the day, out of respect for those injured and to allow for a full safety inspection of the course. “Safety is our top priority,” said race director Angela Reid. “Motocross is an inherently risky sport, but we follow strict safety protocols. We’re deeply saddened by today’s events and are in contact with the families of both injured riders.”

Community members have responded with an outpouring of support, offering prayers, well-wishes, and starting online fundraisers to assist with medical expenses. The motocross community in Nova Scotia is tight-knit, and many riders are familiar faces across different events. “It hits home when you see someone you know being carried off the track,” said fellow racer Corey Mackenzie. “We all understand the risks, but you never really expect it to happen.”
As of now, both injured individuals are reported to be in stable condition. Further updates from family members and medical staff are expected in the coming days.
With these incidents casting a shadow over what is normally a vibrant event, questions are being raised about safety enhancements and potential changes to course layouts or training requirements for participants.
For now, the focus remains on healing, both for the victims and the community that surrounds them. Earltown Motocross Park has promised a full review before future events resume.
