The US Track and Field and Cross Country Association recognized eight All-America accolades for track and field at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, including seven student-athletes from Mississippi State.
Leading the pack with two All-America nods, Peyton Bair was named to the decathlon first team and the 4x100m relay second team. Bair finished second in the decathlon with 8,131 points, breaking the school record. Becoming the first Bulldog to earn two All-America nods in the decathlon, he improved his 2023 status as a Second Team All-American by seven spots.
There were three All-America selections made by the throwing team. After receiving second-team honors last year, Remi Rougetet moved up six spots to earn first-team All-America status in the javelin.
Shot putters Roury McCloyen (freshman) and Jhordyn Stallworth (senior) were named to the Second Team All-America after finishing eleventh, respectively. As a freshman, McCloyen set a new school record in the shot put and discus with a throw of 19.12 meters (62 feet, 2.5 inches), placing him first.
With a final mark of 7.05m (55-1.25) in the shot put, Stallworth became the first Bulldog on the women’s team to receive All-America recognition. She also holds the record in the discus.
After finishing 14th in the semifinals with a timing of 39.37, the men’s 4x100m relay team consisting of Bair, Shamar Rose, Jordan Ware, and Sema’J Daniels was named to the Second Team All-America. Ware and Daniels were both recognized for the first time in their careers as All-Americans, while senior Shamar Rose added to his 2nd Team All-America medal from the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships by earning a third career accolade at the same event.
