Netflix is set to release Becoming Led Zeppelin, the first officially authorized documentary chronicling the legendary rock band’s formation and meteoric rise. Directed by Bernard MacMahon and co-written with Allison McGourty, the film offers an intimate look into the lives and careers of vocalist Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist-keyboardist John Paul Jones, and drummer John Bonham.
A Deep Dive into Rock’s Origins
Becoming Led Zeppelin traces the individual journeys of the band’s members through the music scene of the 1960s, culminating in their meeting in the summer of 1968 and their rapid ascent to global stardom. The documentary features never-before-seen footage of early American and British concerts, as well as material from the band’s personal archives.
Spotlight on John Bonham
The film pays special tribute to the late drummer John Bonham, whose powerful and innovative drumming style was integral to Led Zeppelin’s sound. Through archival audio interviews, Bonham’s voice and perspective are woven into the narrative, providing insight into his contributions to the band’s dynamic.
