There is a small injury issue for the Detroit Lions. In addition to the players who remain injured after last week’s game against the New York Giants, the team has also experienced a few injuries in its two sessions since. Here is a detailed summary of all the information we currently know about the Lions’ injury updates and where things stand. The only new absences from this group were DaRon Gilbert and Carlton Davis. According to Dan Campbell, Gilbert was injured during Sunday’s practice, which necessitated Monday’s signing of linebacker Ty Summers. We do not have an update on Davis’ absence.
Campbell also provided a brief update on a few of these players.
On David Bada: “Bada is out for the year.”
On Malcolm Rodriguez: “I would say Malcolm is improving but he’s not going to be ready. (for Saturday vs. Chiefs)”
At this point, Alim McNeill has missed each of the last two practices and has not been spotted on the sideline, either. The team did not offer an update after Monday’s practice.
As for the other players, LaPorta’s hamstring was reported as minor and he worked with a trainer on Sunday. Houston and Norris were also working with a trainer on Sunday but out on Monday. Hooker remains in concussion protocol and the signing of QB Jake Fromm suggests he’s likely to miss Saturday’s preseason game.Kevin Zeitler remains working with trainers but is fully suited up and Campbell said it wasn’t a long-term injury. Campbell offered an optimistic update on Jefferson, as well.
“There is a chance that Malik’s back in a couple of days, so that’s good That’s positive, but yet it’s not a certainty,” Campbell said.
Paschal and Moore didn’t do any individual or team work on Monday and spent the majority of practice with trainers.
