The Lightning made the news on Monday that they intend to keep Gabriel Fortier, a forward who was selected in the second round of the draft, in their organization by signing him to a two-way, one-year agreement for the next season. Fortier was selected while the Lightning were recruiting for the draft. When the Lightning were in the second round of the draft, they chose Fortier to be their player.#
Although Fortier did not take part in any games for the Lightning during the 2023–24 season, he had already played in eleven games in the National Hockey League (ten of which were played during the 2021–22 season). This is despite the fact that he did not see any action during the 2023–24 season. He has been considered one of the most promising forward depth possibilities for the squad on multiple occasions over the course of the past three seasons.
He recently finished a season in which he scored 13 goals and 26 points in 62 games while playing for Syracuse in the American Hockey League. Among his accomplishments, he scored a career-high four power-play goals. This season was his third full season in the league. Additionally, he achieved a total of 62 points by the time the season was over.
