If the most recent rumors regarding Patrick Kane’s desire to rejoin the New York Rangers are accurate, the Detroit Red Wings may not retain him as a forward come July 1. Kane’s potential interest in returning to the Rangers ahead of the 2024-25 season was hinted at on a podcast broadcast on June 18 by NHL Insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff. “When he arrived in New York, he was hurt. He tried his best, but he sort of let them down,” Seravelli explained on June 18. “They didn’t explicitly state it, but he may have felt he had left something out due to his fatigue and may have desired a second opportunity to make amends.”
The Red Wings and Kane inked a one-year deal while the 2024 season was still in progress. With the Red Wings, he saw action in 50 games, tallying 20 goals and 27 assists. I thought Patrick was fantastic. It may be in everyone’s best interest right now for the two sides to consider reuniting with the contending Rangers, although at a reduced wage.
