After the blockbuster trade that sent Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets to the Knicks, it appears like Cameron Johnson, a former Suns player and fan favorite, may be the next in line to be traded. Several teams, according to league sources told HoopsHype, have recently shown interest in trading for Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson. Among these clubs are the Sacramento Kings and the Toronto Raptors. Sources close to the NBA informed HoopsHype that Johnson had exploratory trade interest from the Orlando Magic and the Indiana Pacers as well.
Along with Bridges, Johnson was part of the huge deal package that was shipped to Brooklyn two seasons ago when Kevin Durant was traded. After mentioning that the Cleveland Cavaliers may also be a contender, Scotto ended by saying: Johnson is due $68.82 million over the course of three years due to his deal, and he shot 39.1 percent from beyond the arc last year.
“With Brooklyn entering a rebuild, Johnson is considered one of several trade candidates, including Dorian Finney-Smith, Bojan Bogdanovic, Dennis Schroder, Ben Simmons, and backup center Day’Ron Sharpe, as previously reported by HoopsHype.” All indications are that Johnson, along with a bevy of other names Scotto listed, will be leaving the Nets organization during their huge rebuild. Unfortunately for Suns fans, it seems like a reunion isn’t happening anytime soon, despite their hopes.
